November Athlete of the Month

There are no barriers or prerequisites to becoming a Fit Crew athlete. Fit Crew is truly for everybody, and we mean every body. We encourage all individuals to get up and find a way to move, and Lon is a great example of someone with a can do attitude who doesn’t limit themselves. Lon has been our client for over 10 years and has been loyal and supportive of Fit Crews growth from the beginning. We love seeing him in the gym, as he is an example of what a dedication to fitness can do for anti-aging- and he is truly one of the original Fit Crew athletes. We’re so happy to have you, Lon.

October Athlete of the Month

Josh has been with Fit Crew for over four years and is an extremely dedicated client; just this year he has been in the gym almost 200 times!  He is consistent, humble, and determined- making him a silent force to be reckoned with. He often puts up top numbers in class and recently he won the 1000m row at our in house rowing competition (whats his secret? it must be the shoes). We’re so happy to have Josh as part of our crew, and love his dedication and positive attitude. Congrats, Josh!

Setting an Active Example

More than one-third of adult Americans are overweight. This likely doesn’t surprise you, as it’s a statistic that is shared frequently in public service announcements and federal-funded campaigns to promote physical activity. What may surprise you, however, is that the general health of our children is not far behind. According to the CDC, one in six children are obese and 55% of children don’t meet the minimum requirement for physical activity.

What's In Your Gym Bag?

Equipment doesn’t make or break an athlete, but everyone has the essentials that work for them. Each gym bag is packed uniquely and often reflects both the goals and the personality of the person carrying it. We went to some of the Fit Crew coaches and owners to find out what their go to’s were- from mobility equipment and training gear, to the snacks and supplements that get them through a long day at work.

I was fortunate enough to have this opportunity and I definitely appreciated it. From opening the gym to closing the gym, I had a very eye-opening experience.

The Yolk’s On You

Apologies for that headline.

By now, most folks are aware that eggs are not unhealthy despite their high cholesterol content. (Though not everyone, because Eggbeaters is still in business!) Eggs contain quality protein, fat, and important vitamins and minerals. Most of the nutrition is found in the yolk of the egg, which is why we’re making the yolk this week’s Smart Fuel.

What To Do If You Need To Take Antibiotics

A few years ago, I wrote an article about the often devastating effects that antibiotics can have on the gut flora. While it’s extremely important to avoid unnecessary antibiotic use, what about those who have carefully considered their options and decided that antibiotics are necessary in their situation? Is there no hope for recovering a healthy microbiome?
